North and South Carolina were founded in 1663 by the 8 English Nobles. The north was a poor colony but was focused on keeping an order (The country back). The south were rich and just like to display their wealth (Tidewater plantations). The south had many plantations for harvesting crops which helped the economic growth. Because of fertile land their crops grew very quickly. These colonies were founded to help the economy.
Economy- The main part of economy was farming. In the south, there were lots of large plantations with slaves, while in the north they had poor farmers trying to survive and feed their family. The main crops of North Carolina and South Carolina were indigo, rice, and tobacco.
Geography- Both Carolinas had fertile soil, making farming the most useful for the economy.
Government- They had a proprietary government, which means one or more proprietors who were given full governing power by the king.
Celebrity/Important Residents- Virginia Dare and Walter Raleigh. Virginia Dare was the first person of English Heritage to be born in the New World. Walter Raleigh founded the city Raleigh in North Carolina. He took the tobacco he farmed, and helped make it very popular in England.
Religion- North had somewhat of religious tolerance, while south was more toward Christianity.
